Aim for health
by: Anonymous

Hi Tinette,

I was very moved by your posting. I don't have an easy solution or suggestion for you but I did want to say that it can be done.

I too feel overwhelmed and ashamed at times by the mass of weight I need to lose to become healthy. I'm trying to get back onto a program that worked for me for a while: eating mostly vegetables and fruits and lean foods and only carbohydrates that are low GI.

The other thing I wanted to say is that it's important that you make any changes for you yourself. Forget the husband and the kids. This is about bringing you into health.

I wish you all the best.

See a herbalist
by: Brandy

I feel what you feel, work my fingers to the bone and never get boney fingers...I recently went to see an herbalist and had blood work done. They seem to look at blood work differently than a doctor. She found that I was enimic and extremely vitamin D deficiant and there may be issues with my liver. We are still working on all this but for the 1st time ever I dont feel like its all my fault. I too can walk and exersize till I get blisters and see no weight loss at all infact come to find out my body is using my new found muscle as fuel instead of burning the fat. So what I am trying to say is dig deeper! If you want something you have never had then you have to do something you have never tried to get it. I hope this inspires you to seek help cause it isnt your fault! I am sure of it lets get to the bottom of it together!

Don't Give Up Yet
by: Anonymous

Oh dear. I am sorry about the state of mind you are in. Two quick suggestions:

1.) 1700 calories a day for a person with your weight is not enough. You absolutely need to cut calories, but not drastically. Work your way down. Make the calories count. Think of food as fuel for your body and not just something that is going to satisfy hunger. If your body needs to eat then feed it, but make healthy choices.

2.) Until you understand WHY the weight is there, you may never see progress. Weight problems aren't always about food. Food is not your enemy. Look at all facets of your life and tackle them head on so you can succeed.

Don't try to do it all at once. When you make drastic diet and exercise changes in your life all at once you can become overwhelmed and too of high expectations. Be kind to yourself.

Good luck and hang in there.
