The Glycemic Index – I Finally Discovered the Secret to Easy Weight Loss!

You've probably heard a lot about the glycemic index lately. But are you clear about how it can help you lose weight?

Of course I'm assuming you've been trying to lose weight for a while now – right? Maybe for a long time. It just gradually crept up on you and now you're not sure what to do? How do I know this? Because that was me. To a certain degree it still is me. But I'm making progress – good healthy progress. You can too once you understand the glycemic index and how it can help you lose weight.

In fact it's a shockingly simple concept. But like most important insights, it was a long time coming. I had one of those rare AHA! moments when everything just begins to make sense. As I sat in my family room watching TV, feeling tired, lazy and utterly disgusting...

A light finally came on...

My blood sugars seemed bit erratic lately. And I was having other unexplainable symptoms. It made me think that if I continued on the path I was on, I might one day end up with diabetes.

Imagine sitting in your doctor's office one day and he's telling you that you have diabetes. Diabetes is a serious, serious, disease. For me that was a scary thought.

But also in that thought was the key. Diabetes. What makes a person diabetic? In the simplest terms a diabetic cannot properly regulate their blood sugars. And blood sugars are related to the glycemic index of the foods you eat...

Bingo.

My philosophy became: "If I ate as though I already were a diabetic, then I should never become diabetic in the first place." At least not as a direct result of the foods I eat.

Diabetics have relied on glycemic index for decades to help them make healthy food choices. It's not magic and not a fad. Just simple common sense based on real science and healthy body chemistry.

What makes it so simple?

Pretty well everything you eat gets converted to glucose in your blood stream. And the rate that glucose enters your blood stream – based on the glycemic index – impacts your insulin levels. Keep your insulin levels low, your blood sugar on a steady even keel, and you will notice the pounds begin to melt away - naturally.

healthy joggerBut what's really great is that you can basically eat what you want within a very broad set of parameters. That's why it works. It is a permanently SUSTAINABLE way of eating. It really becomes a way of life based on some very basic, easy to remember fundamentals.

Once you know the basics, you can just coast through your days without counting calories, proteins, fats, or carbs. You just eat low glycemic index foods – that's it. And believe me it works.
