Lose Weight and Lower Blood Pressure

Sugar was killing me...No I am not diabetic but sugar was killing me as though I were.

Out of control Diastolic High Blood Pressure at the age of 37. I fought the problem with medication and dieting for 3 years; then I quit smoking because the doctor felt is contributed significantly to the high blood pressure.

My blood pressure sky rocketed so that some morning's my numbers were equal. For six months I tried everything and almost started smoking again. By that time I was up to 3 different BP medicine's, a water pill and finally an anti-depressant was added.

My weight was surging and the last week I had eaten a bowl of oatmeal for lunch each day and well balanced meal each evening and gained a pound and a half that week. I was sitting in the bottom of my clothing closet sobbing because I had no clothes that I could fit into.

Then I read an article on the internet linking high blood pressure directly to insulin. I had nothing to lose at this point; I logged on to your website and began eating low glycemic that day. 4 days later my blood pressure bottom line was 85 for the first time in years. By day eight my number were 120 over 75. You may think it coincidental; I went back off the diet and day three my BP bottom line was 94. Back on and back into control immediately.

It is not a coincidence. When I quit smoking I started eating hard candies as a substitute relationship. I was up to a 2 lb bag per week...but in my thought process...it was a fat free food so it was okay. My whole life people have preached low fat food...it was killing me. What they should have been saying was low sugar.

The doctors that were treating me never said "try this" meaning the change in diet, they just added more pills. When they looked at me they on saw someone overweight and out of control...Without the low glycemic diet, I have no idea where I would be today.

I have changed my life, I am not on a diet and I know that I will never go back from where I am today. I have about 30 pounds more to lose (20 pounds so far) but the weight loss is just a bonus to being healthy, to not taking pills that made me feel terrible.

I have a lot to learn and I need variety but I am working every day to learn more.
