To help disabled daughter get triglycerides under control and for me to lose 30 pounds by January 31, 2011

I have a 16 year old daughter with Hurler's syndrome. She was diagnosed when she was 7 months old and had a bone marrow transplant when she was 21 months old. Needless to say our lives have been an emotional rollercoaster. We have been through many issues related to her disability one of which was getting her to eat. She went through a period that the only thing that she could control was whether she ate or not and she had to have a feeding tube shortly after her transplant. Once we got her where she would eat again, I let her eat whatever she would and now we are battling high triglycerides and need to get them under control. Due to everything with her along with 3 other children I have let myself go and now need to lose 30 pounds and also reduce my cholesterol and triglycerides. I think that setting a goal of 30 pounds in 6 months is achievable and will work hard to obtain it. Her doctor has told me that a low GI diet is the way to get our triglycerides under control and I look forward to the change in lifestyle.
